Counseling Office

Welcome to the Chippewa Hills Middle School Counseling Office!

You may find the counseling office within the Chippewa Hills Middle School. School counselors support all students across the domains of academic, career, and social/emotional, which may include whole group instruction in a classroom setting, small groups, and meeting with students individually.

Classroom Lessons

Social emotional lessons are sometimes created and delivered to students within their classrooms. Topics may include things such as problem-solving, healthy friendships, emotion management, and empathy. District approved curriculum and programming is used such as Second Step and the Xello program.

Small Groups

Sometimes students might be invited to join a small group. Small groups will have clear goals and participation is voluntary. Areas of focus vary but allow students to develop relationships, learn, and practice new skills. Parent/guardian consent is required for student participation in social-emotional groups.

Individual Sessions

Individual, short-term student sessions may also be scheduled to help support students with academic success and social/emotional topics. Referrals may come from teachers, parents, students, or staff.

Middle Schoolers may access the counseling office through requests submitted by students, families, and/or teachers by emailing the staff, contacting the middle school office, or through in-person requests. Providing students with access to the resources they need to be successful both in and outside of school frequently involves collaboration among families teachers, administration, and relevant community resources depending on student needs.

You may contact the counseling office Monday through Friday from 8:00am-3:00pm by contacting our Middle School Office at 231-967-2200.
