The Chippewa Hills School District Board of Education is beginning the process of hiring a new superintendent. The board is soliciting community and staff input on the qualities, experiences, and skills needed in the new superintendent. Residents of the District, all staff and administration are encouraged to participate in the process. The board is being assisted in its search by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), a service organization that supports the work of school boards throughout Michigan. Mark Palmer is facilitating the search on behalf of MASB. Mark will be holding meetings in the District to give the community and staff an opportunity for input. Parents and community members are invited to share their perspectives at a meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 PM in the High School Media Center. Input may also be shared via an online survey, available at this URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chsuptsearch The survey is being administered by the MASB Executive Search team on behalf of the District and takes about ten minutes to complete. Anonymous individual responses will be combined with those from the face-to-face meetings with stakeholders to provide important community input to the Chippewa Hills Board of Education as it seeks to identify the best candidate for the position. On Friday, May 10 Chippewa Hills is hosting the CSAA Conference Track & Field Championships as well as home Varsity Baseball and Softball games. In an effort to accommodate these large events and keep everyone in a safe environment, May 10 will now be a half day of school as we try to reduce traffic and congestion at the secondary site. This date will run like any other half day schedule with the High School and Middle School being dismissed at 12:00 PM and Elementary Schools dismissed at 12:15 PM. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Chippewa Hills schools will be closed today due to inclement weather. The Little Warriors program will also be closed. Be safe and have a great Spring Break, Warriors!

The Board of Education meeting for Monday, March 11 has been moved to the High School Auditorium. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM.

The green bus (22-1) from Weidman is running late. It was having mechanical issues at the school. A replacement bus is on its way to pick up students.

Chippewa Hills School District is required to provide 30 hours of professional development (PD) to our teaching staff. Our January 15, 2024, PD was canceled due to weather, along with school that morning, for all staff and students. This situation requires us to make up the time to ensure our staff receive the required amount of hours for PD. March 4, 2024, will be the newly scheduled make-up day for PD with students in attendance the first half of the day. The district appreciates your accommodation to this calendar change as we fulfill our obligations to the state and meet the needs of our staff. Thank you for your understanding.

Just a reminder about tomorrow’s Elementary Night at our home basketball games! All Chippewa Hills Elementary students and their families receive FREE admission to the games! We have lots of fun lined up for our Elementary Warriors and can’t wait to see you!

It’s National School Resource Officers Day! We’re sending a very special thank you to our School Resource Officer, Deputy Jason Losinski from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, for his ongoing support for the students of Chippewa Hills. SROs bridge the gap between youth and law enforcement, embracing a triad concept of school policing by serving in informal counseling, educational, and law enforcement roles to support the students and communities they serve. They are invaluable and essential members of the education community, deserving unwavering respect and support from the public in the pursuit of maintaining safe schools and protecting students. Deputy Losinski, thank you for all you do for our Warriors!
