Educational Development Plans

An Educational Development Plan (EDP) is a personalized roadmap that helps students explore their interests, set academic and career goals, and outline the steps needed to achieve them. Created with input from counselors, teachers, and parents, the EDP guides students in selecting courses, extracurricular activities, and experiences that align with their future aspirations. It also includes tools for career exploration and planning, ensuring students are prepared for their post-graduation pathway, whether that’s college, vocational training, or entering the workforce. The EDP is a dynamic document that evolves as students grow and refine their goals.

Why have an EDP?

The State of Michigan requires that students have the opportunity to create an Educational Development Plan (EDP) starting in 7th grade, with regular revisions throughout high school. An EDP helps students set career development goals aligned with academic requirements, which can be met through career and technical education.

How do students create and update their EDP?
